Prof. Franz Schaffhauser, Rector, András Petö Institute of Conductive Education and College for Conductor Training, Hungary

Franz Schaffhauser (1951), Professor of Philosophy of Education is Rector of the András Pető Institute of Conductive Education and College for Conductor Training, and Secretary of the Council of the Doctoral School of Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of Loránd Eötvös University, Budapest. Practising logotherapist, Chairman of the Hungarian Association for Logotherapy and Existential Analysis.

Teaching activities: Lectures, seminars, workshops, courses and tutoring. Guest lecturer at several universities and teacher training institutions.

Contribution to international academic life, participating in both theoretical and empirical research. Contributor to several international projects e.g. Integer for Curriculum Development, EUMIE Inclusion in Europe.
 
Plenary Lecture 2 - Integrating Chinese Culture with Philosophy of Conductive Education in Rehabilitation for Children with Cerebral Palsy

Prof. Dahong Zhuo
Prof. Dahong Zhuo, Professor, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University (SYU), China

Dr. Dahong Zhuo is a professor of rehabilitation medicine at the Sun Yat-sen University (SYU), Guangzhou, China. In his long service as a physician and medical educator, Dr. Zhuo’s major interest has been in medical rehabilitation and health promotion, especially rehabilitation combining western with oriental methods. He is currently a member of WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Rehabilitation, and the Director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Rehabilitation (located at SYU, China). Dr. Zhuo is also a vice president of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation for People with Disability, and the Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine. He has published numerous textbooks, monographs and scientific articles.
 
Plenary Lecture 3 - Historical, Social and Political Issues of Conductive Education

Dr. Andrew Sutton
Dr. Andrew Sutton, Trustee, Conduction, United Kingdom

Dr. Andrew Sutton's background includes psychology, history, special education, comparative special education, advocating parents' rights, and educational journalism. In the 1980s he collaborated with Mária Hári and others to establish CE outside Hungary, and in the public campaign to bring it to world attention. In the United Kingdom he helped create the Foundation for CE, its National Institute and training course for conductors, and the National Library of CE. Internationally he participated in a number of attempts to internationalise CE, and he published. He retired in 2004. He 'unretired' in 2007.

His concerns now focus upon securing and developing a relevant knowledge base for CE, its momentum for change, its public recognition, its generalisability (including to developing nations) and the promise of Cyberspace. He writes Conductive World and has helped create CE Press and the think-tank Conduction. He hopes to retire again very soon.
 
Plenary Lecture 4 - In Search of Excellence: SAHK’s Evolution to a Conductive Education Organization

Mr. Cheung-fat Fong
Mr. Cheung-fat Fong, Chief Executive Officer, SAHK, Hong Kong

Mr.. Fong Cheung-fat got B. Soc. Sci. (Hon.) Degree in Social Work in 1981. In 1993, he completed MA in Information Systems, and in 1994 Diploma in Social Service Management. He joined SAHK in 1986 and was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in 2005. Mr. Fong has been active in social work and rehabilitation fields in Hong Kong. He was a Part-time Member of the Central Policy Unit of the HKSAR Government (2006 & 2007) and is now a member of: The Executive Committee of Hong Kong Council of Social Service; The Management Committee of Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities; Advisory Committee of Social Work Department, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Departmental Advisory Committee on Rehabilitation Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Hospital Governing Committee, Shatin Hospital, Hong Kong Hospital Authority and etc. He is also an Honorary Council Member of the Guangzhou Volunteers’ Union.
 
Plenary Lecture 5 - Neuroplasticity: Implications on Neurorehabilitation

Prof. Tatia M. C. Lee
Prof. Tatia M. C. Lee, Professor, Department of Psychology, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Tatia Lee has been working in collaboration with clinicians and scientists to uncover the neural mechanisms underlying those cognitive affective processes that define the human nature of an individual. She has published extensively and in high impact journals. She is an elected Fellow of the Division of Clinical Neuropsychology and the Society of Clinical Psychology of the American Psychological Association. She is the founding Director of the Institute of Clinical Neuropsychology in Hong Kong, and the Laboratory of Neuropsychology and Laboratory of Cognitive Affective Neuroscience at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). She is currently Professor of Department of Psychology and Honorary Professor of Department of Psychiatry and Department of Medicine of the university.

Because of her contribution to the advancement of knowledge in Neuropsychology, The University of Hong Kong has bestowed upon her an Endowed Professorship in the field of Neuropsychology, the title of which is "May Professorship in Neuropsychology".
 
Plenary Lecture 6 - Advances in Neurophysiology and Neuropsychology with Possible Implications for the Conductive Environment

Prof. Shaul Hochstein
Prof. Shaul Hochstein, Professor, Department of Neurobiology, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel

Shaul Hochstein is Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel where he is affiliated with the Department of Neurobiology and Interdisciplinary Center for Neural Computation. Dr. Hochstein directs the National Institute for Psychobiology in Israel and has worked at the Rockefeller University in New York and MIT in Cambridge Massachusetts. His research concentrates on the visual system and issues of neurophysiology, perceptual learning, neural networks, memory and the physiological basis of cognitive phenomena including unconscious and conscious brain processes. Prof. Hochstein is a founding member of Tsad Kadima, the Israel Association for Advancement of Peto Method Conductive Education.
